Elgin Proposition A

Ground Game Texas organized Elgin residents to use the city's initiative process to place marijuana decriminalization before voters. Proposition A restricted enforcement of low-level marijuana possession and reduced the use of city personnel and resources for misdemeanor marijuana cases. Despite resistance during the initiative process, the measure reached the November 2022 ballot and was approved by nearly three-quarters of Elgin voters.
