What we collect, and what we do with it

Ground Game Texas organizes Texans around local campaigns. To do that we ask people to join, to commit to vote, and to write to us, and each of those means telling us something about yourself. This page says what we collect, what we do with it, and how to reach us about it. Questions go to info@groundgametexas.org.

What we collect

When you fill in a form on this site we keep what you type: your name, email address, ZIP code, and your phone number if you choose to give it. The commit-to-vote form also asks for your street address, so we can tell you where your polling place is. The contact form keeps your message.

We also note which page you signed up from and which campaign it belongs to, so that we can follow up about the right thing.

We also keep the site that sent you to us, any campaign tags in the link you followed, and the browser your device reports — the same details a web server records — so we can tell which outreach is working.

To keep out spam, we may check that a submission comes from a person and not a program, and we keep a scrambled form of your internet address that cannot be turned back into the original.

We count visits to the site in a way that uses no cookies and does not identify you.

What we do with it

We use what you give us to do what you asked: to keep you posted on the movement, to remind you when early voting opens, to tell you where to vote, to get in touch about volunteering, and to reply to your message. We also look at which campaigns and pages bring people in.

If you give us your phone number, we may call or text you about our campaigns. Message and data rates may apply. You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP.

We do not sell your information to for-profit companies, and we do not rent or trade it.

Who sees it

Your information is stored with the companies that host this site for us and in Action Network, the platform we use to organize and stay in touch with supporters. They handle it on our behalf and only for the purposes above.

We also work with partner organizations on shared campaigns, and they may see your information for that work and only for that work. Beyond that, we share it only when the law requires it or to protect the safety of our staff, our volunteers, or the public.

Links to other sites

Donations go through ActBlue, and some petitions, letters and events are hosted on Action Network. When you follow one of those links you leave this site, and that site's own policy applies to what you do there.

How long we keep it

For as long as we are organizing around the campaigns you joined and you want to hear from us. Ask us and we will delete it.

Your choices

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and every text can be stopped by replying STOP. To see what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, email info@groundgametexas.org from the address you signed up with.

Children

This site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and if we learn that we have, we will delete it.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
