Lockhart Freedom Act

2024 | Proposition A: Passed

Ground Game Texas organized the Lockhart Freedom Act to reduce enforcement of misdemeanor marijuana possession and redirect local resources away from low-level marijuana cases. After residents successfully used the citizen petition process to qualify the measure, Lockhart voters approved Proposition A with 67.95% of the vote in November 2024. Lockhart joined a growing group of Texas communities where voters used local initiative powers to change marijuana enforcement policy.
